Bright Cellars: Monthly Wine @ Home

6

Hello Darlings!

I thought it being Friday that a Wine post was perfect! To make it even better this is about a company that sends you wine’s monthly based on your likes!

Bright Cellars is a monthly subscription that delivers four bottles of wine right to your door! This is great for those trying to find out what wines they like, new wines, or just something new in general.

First, you take a short quiz so they can better match you to wines they think you will love. Then, they will send you a list of the wines they think match you. You get a little description of each one and if you don’t think it’s for you you can swap it.

You can skip a month or cancel at anytime. When I took my quiz they surprised me with a link where I got a fifth bottle for free! Bright cellars offers points for reviews of the wines you receive plus that helps them make sure they are matching you right.

If you are a beer drinker like myself this paper was interesting. (Don’t worry in your own box you will get one that you can actually read…lighting was terrible) This is a guide to help you figure out what kind of wine you might like based on what kind of beer you like.

1

Based on my quiz results these where the bottles I got.

  1. Lawson’s Ridge Shiraz-Cabernet Sauvignon 2015: This is an Australian blend full of black cherry, blackberry, and plum aromas. On the palate you should notice black pepper, spice, and a touch of oak. This is ideally paired with barbecued or grilled meats & smoked cheese.

3

2. Leaping Lizard Cabernet Sauvignon 2014: California wine with ripe juicy raspberry, plum, and cherry flavors as well as some hints of pepper in the finish. Best paired with braised beef short ribs-also goes well with bold cheeses.

2

3. Mare DI Vetro Aglianico 2015: A dark sultry full bodied red wine w/ flavors of black cherry, blackberry, plum and coca spice in the finish. Paired with smoked meats or hard cheeses.

4

4. Forty Winks Chenin Blanc 2015: orchard fruit flavors like yellow apples and pears balanced by tropical aromas or guava and passion fruit, also with floral notes of honeysuckle and jasmine. Paired with vegetable stir-fry or with fresh goat cheese & honey.

5

5. Porta D’oro Pinot Grigio 2015: Fresh light bodied Pinot from Venezie, has notes of crisp green apples, tart lemon, and ripe peach, and just a hint of soft florals & honey. Paired with light seafood pasta or a bruschetta w/ fresh mozzarella.

I am really curious to see how well a quiz can match wines to someone. I will admit when I see the notes and what it would be paired with I have high hopes but I can be tricky or picky…..how ever you choose to look at it.

If you like or love wine Bright Cellars is worth checking out. I plan to give it a few months and if i keep getting wines that are not my type haha I will pass.

I will of course keep you posted on how this goes! I’m sure in Monday’s recap there might be one review!

XOXO

Updated Healthy Tips

Hello Darlings!

Today I just wanted to update some of my vitamins I have discussed before along with a few other things.

IMG_0857

I am a huge tea drink now I love coffee as well but tea is for my evenings. I really enjoy drinking a cup after dinner. Yogi is a brand I like because of the variety you can see they offer. During the flu/allergy season it is a must. I always pick up the stress (with lavender honey taste better), cold season sampler (it has the mix for all your needs) and detox.

I add a little honey to them all and it is great! At this very moment I am doing the detox tea 3 times a day with a tablespoon of honey. I will do just one box and give my body a rest. My digestion never seems to run right no matter how well I eat, or supplements I take so doing this once in a while seems to help.

I have recently gotten off the depo provera birth control shot after being on it for 12 years. I know that is a long time and has taken a huge toll on my body. I am starting to get breakouts in the normal hormonal areas and thought about trying skin detox from yogi next to see if I noticed any difference.

I have mentioned before that I take a probiotic twice a day. This is my normal brand I take and have had really good results. I have thought about trying some from my local health food store but they where $50+ and decided it was not worth it.

I am religious about taking a magnesium supplement twice a day. Magnesium has a lot of great benefits and I know you can get if from food such as leafy greens but I am positive I do not get enough from food alone. Magnesium can be great for those that don’t sleep well, migraines, and anxiety. I do not remember where I bought the ones in pic but I have just been getting mine from my local vitamin store. I also use this and I love it! If I am stressing over something at night I will make me a cup of this and it really does calm me down and I sleep very well.

I have been trying out some Vitamin D supplements as well and as soon as I find a favorite I will let you know!

Weekend Recap

IMG_1980

Hello Darlings!

How was your weekend? Did you watch the oscars?

Saturday was a typically run around and do some errands day. Jake and I did stop by a few estate sales looking for a good deal with no such luck. I am working on redecorating our office/guest room so I’m keeping my eye out for some pieces.

Sunday was a really lazy day, we got up on some shows and did some cleaning around the apartment. Later we did enjoy a nice glass of wine with pizza while we watched the oscars!

Of course we were surprised just like everyone else when the mistake was revealed at the end!

Empty Product Reviews

Hello Darlings!

Happy Friday! I hope you had a fantastic week and I’m sure you are glad it is over!

It has been awhile since I have done a product empties post but I finally had a few bits and bobs laying around.

These are just some products I have fully used up so I can really give my best review and thoughts on them.

1

If you have been with me for awhile than you already know I have been using these two Origins products for years now. First up is the High Potency Night-A-Mins mineral-enriched renewal cream. I have combo dry-oily skin so using this for my nighttime moisturizer is great. I wake up with plump, non-greasy, moisturized skin. (they do have a oil-free one as well)  The second product is my morning eye cream.($43)

3

This GinZing eye cream is a lifesaver! I use it ever morning and it helps me look refreshed and my eye makeup better since I do not have to try and cover up bags/dark circles.($30)

2

I have been using oil cleansers for a little bit now but this Dizzolv’It makeup melt cleansing balm was really nice. It took off my makeup with out any problems and did not make me break out. It can be purchased from the link above and it retails for $24.

4

This next product was a luxury item in a pretty package. This is liquid gold peptides by Gavee Gold. The item in picture is a travel size and so is the packaging. Normally it comes in a normal bottle and retails for $155. This is a serum which has some of the best ingredients for hydration and to help with the appearance of wrinkle like hyaluronic acid.

5

Dermalogica makes a precleanse which can be found at your local Ulta ($40). I love this for removing my eye makeup. It takes off hard to remove liquid liner and waterproof mascara like nothing.

7

I know people use this oil everywhere but let’s be real…it is pricy to be using all over your body, face, and hair. I use this by taking a full dropper and adding it to my dollop of moisturizer in my hand before applying it to my body. My skin drinks this up especially during the winter. 100% pure argan oil retails for $48

6

This is the oil I have been using for my hair. It is the no frizz oil by Balanced Guru which is an organic company retails for $25. This is light weight which is great for those that get really oily hair or have thin hair. I enjoy this because my hair tends to frizz and this is formulated for that.

9

I had gotten this product in an ipsy bag a few months ago and I’m so glad I did! This is hyaluronic tonic of the dragon’s blood line from Rodial. I have already said a few great things about hyaluronic acid so that should be a reason right there to add this to your list. It retails for $42 in the full size. They have several lines along with different kinds of products. I have a wishlist of other products I want to try but if you are in need of a toner check this one out.

11

I love the de-slick oil control ($15-$31) and the all nighter ($15-$31) just the same. I think I need to compare them during the summer because I feel the de-slick might work better during those months. What are your thoughts??

12

I am a big self-tanner so I am trying out new ones all the time. I do think I have found a new favorite (post on that soon) but this one is pretty good. This is pHenomenal 2-3 week by Vita Liberta. I got mine in Medium but it comes in light, medium, and dark. This is a luxury tan that is really nice, easy to apply with mitt, golden color, lasted 2 weeks. It does retail for $54 which I think is crazy.

13

Okay lastly, this is a product that got a full post all to it’s self so I will not go into much detail. This is a replenishing hydrator by HADA LABO TOKYO. It is the best thing I have ever added to my skin care routine! Trust me you need this!

Till next time,

xoxo

Sephora Play Feb “17

Hello Darlings!

How is your week going so far? How is the weather where you are? Anyone else ready for spring?! I Know I am sick of this cold one day and hot the next crap!

feb sephora.jpg

I feel everything took way to long to get here this month. Anyone else that does monthly subscriptions feel this way too? I still have not gotten my scentbird and the month is almost over.

Anyway, in this month’s Sephora bag there was a few things to be excited about! Let’s be honest the Sephora Play is always good! It never fails me and I look forward to it the most every month. If you are up in the air about a beauty monthly subscription THIS is it! I promise you will not be disappointed if you love Sephora.

3.jpg

I do not own a lot from Nars because honestly I can not afford it. I do have a few other lip products I have gotten either in a Sephora Holiday kit or in a sample. I have no complaints so when I say this I was happy! It is a color that I would have chosen for myself and the reviews from youtubers and bloggers I personally follow love them.

This is the Nars velvet lip glide and full size is $26. This is a good sample to see if you would like to spend that on a lip product. This is for those that what a half ass matte so to speak. It will not dry out your lips but will dry down some so it is not a gloss gloss….ya know??

5.jpg

I was really glad to see this since the mascara I got in my ipsy this month was really not my favorite. You can check that out here and here if you got something else in your bag or are just curious.

SO this is a Sephora Brand mascara Lashcraft for length & volume it retails for $12. I think the sample is really small, cute and I will be able to tell if I like it or not. It has a lot of claims such as it dissolves in just warm water no remover needed yet it is smudge proof…so I will give it a whirl and see.

4.jpg

Okay so I hate that burning feeling some of these give. If my lips are burning it better be because I just enjoyed the best hot salsa of my life! I do love my soap & glory mother pucker in rose & shine. In a pinch the Buxom lip creams give your lips a nice plump look. (my favorite is White Russian).

This is not their extreme version so I that’s a plus. This is the Glossy one which means is comes in colors lol & retails for $22. It does not smell as nice as the other two I mentioned but I will still give it a go.

1

Okay so I have loved some Clinique products that I have tried so when I say this I thought why not?  This is the HydroBlur moisturizer & retails for $29. BUT I love my Moisturizer from origins so I don’t think I will be changing anytime soon. I would have preferred the pep-start eye cream to try instead. Which leads me into the next product.

2.jpg

I use this eye cream already and have for years. I love it! This is the GinZing eye cream & retails for $30. I use it every morning without fail! It is good stuff.

Okay so every month they send a perfume sample and this month it was Marc Jacobs Divine Decadence. It smells delicious or as the paper says….”Sensual, Luxurious, radiant” If you get a chance give it a sniff!

Till the next time,

XOXO
